PDP waiting for NC to break alliance
2/22/2024 11:02:19 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 22: Even as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) dismissed rumours of leaving the INDIA bloc, the party is ready to contest elections on three Lok Sabha seats of Kashmir Valley.
Sources in the party said that the PDP leadership has decided not to field candidates on three seats namely Jammu-Reasi, Udhampur-Doda, and Ladakh to keep Congress in good humours.
“The party leadership is very much aware that the Congress will field its candidates of these seats so there is no reason to put party’s nominees on these Lok Sabha segments”, insiders in the PDP said and added that the party will leave seats for Congress but not for the National Conference on Kashmir Valley.
Sources in the PDP said that the leadership of the party was waiting for the National Conference leadership to break the alliance by announcing its candidates on three seats of Kashmir Valley.
“PDP will announce its candidates only after the National Conference officially declared its candidates on three seats of Kashmir Valley”, sources said.
Notably, two days ago the PDP reaffirmed its dedication to the alliance’s unity.
Through an official statement, the PDP refuted claims circulating in the media regarding a potential departure from the alliance, emphasizing its steadfast commitment to unity and collaboration within the coalition.
“The party’s stance comes amidst speculations suggesting its withdrawal from the INDIA bloc and intentions to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections independently”, PDP stated.
