GDC Vijaypur kick starts three days Intra College Sports Meet competition

JAMMU, Feb 23: GDC Vijaypur organises three days Intra College Sports Meet competition in collaboration with NSS unit (Khidmat) of GDC Vijaypur under the banner of "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan" and "Voting Awareness Campaign" which was concluded on third day of the tournament. The activity was organised under the supervision and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta, Principal of the college. She delivered the welcome note. While addressing the participants she appreciated and encouraged for active participation of all the students with great enthusiasm in the various sports events organised by the sports committee of the college.
Intra college sports competition started with Chess, Volley ball and Carom board matches. In Chess competition eight teams of men and four teams of women participated while there were six teams each in carom board tournament and volley ball included three teams. The winners from Men Carom championship were Amjad Hussain and Avijeet Kumar of B. Sc Semester II, while Ranjit Kour and Palak Panotra of B.A. Semester II won in women carom championship. The chess competition was won by Anshitha Sharma (W) of B.A. Semester II and Manjeet Singh (M) of B.Com Semester. The winners of Volley ball competition were the students of Semester 6 of the college. The refreshment and certificates was also distributed to all the participants while the winners were awarded with the trophies.
The whole meet was organised by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (Convenor, Nasha Mukhti Abhiyan), Dr. Manoj Heer (Convenor, Sports Committee), Dr. Jan Mohd. Wani (PTI) and co-ordinated by Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Prof. Poonam Kundan, Prof. Rakesh Kumar, Prof. Mazid Malik, Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal (Member, Nasha Mukhti Abhiyan), Dr. Tisha Singh and Gagandeep Singh.
