Police seizes excavator among 5 vehicles for illegal mining

SAMBA, Feb 23: In its ongoing efforts to combat illegal mining activities in the district, Samba Police has taken decisive action by seizing five vehicles, including one excavator, in the jurisdictions of Police Station Ghagwal and Police Station Samba. These vehicles were found to be involved in the illegal mining and transportation of construction material. A Police team from Police Station Ghagwal, under the leadership of the Station House Officer (SHO), seized one JCB excavator with registration number JK21F-8073, two tippers with registration numbers JK21A-4548 and JK08H-0461, and one dumper with registration number JK21J-9675.
Similarly, another Police team from Police Post Supwal, led by the SHO of PS Samba and the Incharge of Police Post Supwal, conducted a surprise checkpoint at Supwal and seized one dumper with registration number JK08K-5812 for its involvement in illegal mining and transportation activities. All the aforementioned vehicles have been confiscated by the Samba Police and handed over to the Geology & Mining Department, Samba, for further necessary action.
This proactive enforcement action underscores the commitment of Samba Police to combat illegal mining activities and uphold the law in the region. Such measures are crucial to safeguarding the environment and ensuring sustainable development in the district.
