Ladakhi groups hold meaningful talks with MHA’s High Power Committee

Jammu, Feb 24: Following today’s meeting with the High-Power Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs, a sense of optimism pervades among the Ladakhi groups currently in agitation, as they foresee potential resolutions to their demands.
Qamar Ali Akhnoon, a former minister and member of the six-member sub-committee representing the agitating Ladakhi groups, expressed satisfaction with the meeting's proceedings. “We are content with today's discussions, conducted with a spirit of openness,”, he said.
He also hinted at progress, anticipating the announcement of the next meeting date shortly.
Describing the meeting as “meaningful and fruitful,” Akhoon highlighted the comprehensive deliberations on all raised issues. He emphasizing the Center's positive and encouraging response during discussions. The talks encompassed cr

There is cautious optimism among the sub-committee members regarding potential positive decisions, particularly concerning reservations for locals in job opportunities. Notably, the agitating groups established this sub-committee following their meeting with the HPC on February 19, comprising prominent figures like Thupstan Chhewang, Chering Dorjay Lakrook, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Qamar Ali Akhoon, Asgar Ali Karbalai, and Sajjad Kargili, tasked with advancing dialogue with the Union Government.
