JAMMU, Feb 26: In a commendable initiative aimed at fostering awareness about the critical need for organ and tissue transplant, Govt. GLDM Degree College Hiranagar recently hosted an enlightening awareness program in collaboration with the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO), Jammu and Kashmir. Under the esteemed patronage of the college's Principal, Dr. Pragya Khanna, the NSS Unit orchestrated a comprehensive session dedicated to shedding light on the significance of organ and tissue donation. Key objectives of the program included disseminating information on the process of organ donation and promoting the implementation of relevant schemes under the National Organ Transplant Program, in conjunction with the State/UT Government.
The event commenced with a succinct introduction by NSS Programme Officer and Program Coordinator, Dr. Ram Krishan, who provided insights into the program's agenda and introduced the esteemed resource person, Anshu Sharma. Sharma, a Consultant specializing in Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) at SOTTO, J&K, delivered an engaging presentation, fostering interactive discussions among faculty and students alike.
Throughout her presentation, Sharma adeptly dispelled common misconceptions surrounding organ and tissue transplant, emphasizing the transformative impact of donation on saving lives. Her motivational approach resonated with attendees, inspiring a collective understanding of the profound significance of the theme. Distinguished faculty members including Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma, Prof. Amit Kumar Singh, Dr. Rajni Sharma, Prof. Vijay Kumar, Dr. Bharat Kumar, Dr. Mukesh Kumar, and Mr. Balbir Singh graced the event, further enriching the dialogue on organ and tissue donation.
The program culminated with a resounding pledge undertaken by participants, affirming their commitment to actively support and promote organ and tissue transplant initiatives. This pledge stands as a testament to the collective determination of the college community to contribute towards the noble cause of saving lives through organ donation.
