JAMMU, Feb 26: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) in Jammu recently held a felicitation ceremony to recognize and honor artists for their outstanding contributions to the Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2024. The event, which took place at the open-air theatre of Durga Bhawan Janipur, saw over 22 artists and technicians being acknowledged for their remarkable performances.
V.K. Magotra, Managing Director of BLSKS Jammu, presided over the ceremony as the Chief Guest, presenting certificates of appreciation to the esteemed awardees. Dr. Anju Dogra, Medical Officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Health Department, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor.
Commending the efforts of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan in promoting traditional folk culture, Magotra highlighted the organization's role in showcasing the rich heritage of the region, particularly through the Jan Bharat Rang segment of the 25th Anniversary of Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2024 - International Theatre Festival of India. He praised the collaborative effort with the National School of Drama, New Delhi, and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in presenting the musical play "VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM." This production, written by Lalit Parkash and produced and directed by Dr. M.L. Dogra, aimed to revive the traditional folk theatre of the Jammu region and channelize youth energies towards nation-building.
M.L. Dogra, Chairman of BLSKS, underscored the significance of the philosophical concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which embodies the idea of universal brotherhood and emphasizes respect, dignity, and compassion towards all individuals. He emphasized the relevance of this ancient Indian philosophy in today's interconnected world, where fostering peace, unity, and cooperation among nations and cultures is paramount.
The event concluded with the felicitation of distinguished artists and technicians, including Usha Raina, Kranti Kant Joshi, Mahesh Chander Kotwal, Raju Bajgal, Rajni Gupta, and others, for their exemplary performances in the musical play. Deepak Kumar Dogra offered a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all participants and efficiently conducting the proceedings.
The felicitation ceremony not only celebrated the talents and contributions of the honored individuals but also served as a testament to the commitment of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the region. Through such initiatives, the organization continues to enrich the cultural landscape and foster a sense of unity and pride among the people of Jammu and beyond.
