NEW DELHI, Feb 26: Lovely Professional University (LPU) marked a significant milestone in its academic journey with the grand celebration of its 11th annual convocation, held on Sunday, February 25, 2024. The distinguished event was graced by the presence of former Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, who served as the chief guest for the occasion.
A highlight of the convocation was the conferment of an honorary doctorate, Honoris Causa, upon Tony Abbott, in recognition of his exemplary contributions to global leadership and statesmanship.
Amidst the jubilant atmosphere, Tony Abbott commended the remarkable achievements of LPU's graduating cohort, which included 102 gold medallists, 555 PhD scholars, and 567 meritorious students excelling in both academics and co-curricular activities. Notably, the convocation also marked the graduation of LPU's inaugural batch of 'Online Mode Students,' underscoring the university's commitment to providing accessible education across diverse platforms.
In his address, Tony Abbott lauded India's unparalleled potential as a beacon of peace, prosperity, and development on the global stage. Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, the Founder Chancellor of LPU, presided over the convocation ceremony and expressed his pleasure at welcoming Tony Abbott as the chief guest.
