| Paharis say Shafi is their ambassador | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 24- Jammu & Kashmir Pahari Peoples Movement (JKPPM) has nominated senior National Conference leader and elected Rajya Sabha member Mohammad Shafi Uri as its ambassador and hoped that he will work as bridge between them and New Delhi and the people of Pahari in fulfilling the long pending demand of granting scheduled tribe to them. In a meeting held here under the chairmanship of Shahbaz Khan, Chief Executive of Jammu & Kashmir Pahari Peoples Movement, it was decided to nominate Uri as their ambassador. In a press statement, Shahbaz Khan said that Uri is a Pahari leader and he will strive for the cause of Pahari community. He said that he will work as a bridge between New Delhi and Pahari community. He added that Pahari people are demanding ST status for the last many decades but both state and centre governments have weakened their demand. He hoped that the election of Uri to Rajya Sabha will strengthen their cause.
