Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 27: In a bid to foster civic responsibility and enhance voter awareness, Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura orchestrated a signature campaign today on February 27, 2024. This event, held under the theme "Chunav Ka Parv, Desh Ka Garv" (Festival of Elections, Pride of the Nation), witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Principal, college staff, and students alike.
The signature campaign, an integral part of a month-long voter awareness program, aimed to educate students about the importance of exercising their franchise in the upcoming parliamentary elections to Lok Sabha 2024. Through this initiative, GDC Paloura sought to instill a sense of civic duty and encourage greater participation in the democratic process among the college community.
Dr. Ashu Vashisht, Principal of GDC Paloura, emphasized the pivotal role of young voters in shaping the future of the nation. She urged students to actively engage in the electoral process and underscored the significance of each vote in strengthening democracy. Dr. Vashisht articulated that the signature campaign embodies a holistic approach to voter awareness, positioning it as a source of pride for individuals to partake in the celebration of democracy during the world's largest electoral exercise.
The collaborative effort between the Department of History, spearheaded by Prof. (Lt.) Arun Sharma, and the Department of Political Science, led by Prof. Amit Bhalla, underscored the college's commitment to promoting civic engagement and nurturing informed citizenship.
