GDC Vijaypur organises symposium on "Voting Rights"

JAMMU, Feb 28: Department of Political Science in collaboration with NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College Vijaypur under the banner of Voting Awareness Campaign organised a symposium on the theme, "Vote for Democracy" under the supervision and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta, Principal of the college. The main objective of the event was to increase the enrolment of the voters, especially the eligible ones and was to create awareness among the students about their voting rights and how they can enroll themselves in the voter list. More than fifty college students participated in the activity with great enthusiasm, fervour and zeal.
The event commenced with the welcome address by Prof. Anita Jamwal, HOD Political Science. She briefed the students about the importance of voting in a democracy and explained in detail how to register in the electoral rolls through online mode and also enlightened the students about the history of election commission of India. The event was coordinated by Prof. Anita Jamwal and Prof. Renuka Kundal. It was co-cordinated by Prof. Mamta Gupta, Dr. Anoop Bhagat, Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Dr. Manoj Heer, Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO), Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo and Dr. Radhika Rasyal.
