KATHUA, FEBRUARY 24 (INFO)-Commissioner/ Secretary to Government Social Welfare department, Mr. Parmodh Jain convened a meeting of Child Development Project Officers and Tehsil Social Welfare officers and reviewed the working of Social welfare and ICDS sectors here today.
District development Commissioner, Kathua, Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Director Social Welfare, Jammu, Mr. Laj Ram, District Social Welfare Officer, Kathua were also present in the meeting.
It was apprised in the meeting that 14394 students of Scheduled caste category were provided pre- matric scholarship amounting to Rs. 36.49, Pre- Matric scholarship to 2788 students of OBC amounting to Rs. 7.27 lakh, Scholarships to160 physically handicapped children amounting to Rs. 0.74 lakh and an amount of Rs. 0.30 lakh was spent for the upliftment of sweeper children up to ending January, 2009.
It was also apprised in the meeting that under Integrated Social Security Scheme 248.49 lakh were provided to 13429 beneficiaries, Under Indira Gandhi National Old Age pension scheme 4456 beneficiaries were provided an amount of Rs. 98.55 lakh. It was also informed that 11 school going children will get Rs. 99000/- under National Foundation Communal Harmony scheme.
