GDC Udhampur triumphs at University of Jammu Wrestling Championship

UDHAMPUR, Feb 29: GDC Udhampur showcased their prowess in wrestling by clinching the overall victory at the Inter-collegiate Men's Wrestling Championship, hosted by the University of Jammu on February 27, 2024. The team's outstanding performance was highlighted by Bishal Singh's historic achievement as he secured the gold medal in the 70 Kg weight category.
Singh's exceptional display on the mat solidified his status as one of the most promising emerging wrestlers among college athletes. Additionally, several other students from GDC Udhampur exhibited commendable skills, with Atul Raina, Mohammad Sajjad, Jasveer Singh, and Razak Mohammad claiming silver medals in their respective weight categories of 98 Kg, 92 Kg, 57 Kg, and 61 Kg.
Professor (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, the Principal of GDC Udhampur, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Bishal Singh and all the medalists for their remarkable achievement in securing the overall championship title. He commended their dedication, sportsmanship, and gallant performance throughout the tournament.
Expressing his pride in the students' accomplishments, Professor Gupta emphasized the college's unwavering commitment to fostering a conducive environment for sports and overall development. He underscored the significance of such achievements as sources of inspiration for aspiring young athletes and a testament to the college's dedication to sports infrastructure and student development.
The medal winners were honored during a felicitation ceremony organized by the Department of Sports, attended by Dr. Mohinder Pal, Convener of the Sports Committee, Shashi Sharma, Physical Training Instructor, and other faculty members of the college. The event celebrated the talent, dedication, and spirit of sportsmanship displayed by the GDC Udhampur team, further reinforcing the college's commitment to nurturing sporting excellence among its students.
