Notorious bootleggers apprehended, 78 bottles of illicit liquor seized

KISHTWAR, Feb 29: In a commendable effort to combat the illegal trade of liquor, District Police Kishtwar have made significant strides with the arrest of two notorious bootleggers and the seizure of 78 bottles of illicit JK Desi Whiskey.
District Police Kishtwar received two different information related to the sale of illicit liquor among the youth of Kishtwar. Acting upon this information, a police party from PS Kishtwar, led by Inspector Firdous Ahmed and under the supervision of Dy. SP Hqrs Dr. Ishan Gupta, raided a suspected shop and recovered 36 bottles of illicit liquor and seized the illicit liquorand arrest was made on spot. The arrested person disclosed his identity as Babu Kumar, son of Shakar Dass, resident of Devalkoot District Doda.
In yet another, checkpoint was established at Indranagar Road by the police party. During vehicle and pedestrian checks, the party stopped a scooty bearing registration No. JK17-7752 and found 42 bottles of illicit liquor and seized arrest was made on spot. The arrested person disclosed his identity as Raj Kumar, son of Badri Chand, resident of Hatta Kishtwar.
In this regard, two different FIRs, FIR No. 60/2024 & FIR No. 61/2024, have been filed under relevant sections of the law, and investigations have been initiated.
