| PDP moves troop cut resolution | | | Early Times Report Jammu: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has moved a resolution in the state assembly seeking the withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the party statement, PDP moved a private member resolution in the Legislative Assembly for the withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) from the state to prevent killings of innocent citizens at the hands of forces. PDP MLA from Darhal, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali has moved this private member resolution under rule 174 of the rules Procedure and Conduct of the Business in the Legislative Assembly. In a letter addressed to the Speaker Legislative Assembly, Ali has said that in view of the situation arising due to the incidents of killings at Bumai Sopore, he places a private member resolution in the Assembly regarding the recommendation to the Government of India for the withdrawal of AFSPA. Condemning the killings at Bumai, Sopore, Ali said that scrapping of this Act was must to prevent losses of human lives in future at the hands of forces. He said that recurrence of Bumai like incidents would be stopped only by scarping such draconian laws which are against the civilized society. Ali, in the resolution has urged Speaker to entertain the recommendations in the interest of the people of Jammu Kashmir. The resolution reads as ‘this August House resolved to recommend to the Government of India to withdraw the Armed Forces Special Power Act’.
