Maharashtra Secures 20 Kanal Land in Kashmir for Maharashtra Bhawan
3/2/2024 10:55:45 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 2: The allotment of 20 Kanals of land to the Maharashtra government at estate Ichgam, Budgam, for constructing Maharashtra Bhawan in Kashmir has been hailed as a significant development by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri. This move is expected to bolster tourism and cultural relations between the two regions.
Raman Suri emphasized that while Jammu and Kashmir had JK Houses in Delhi, Maharashtra, and Amritsar, it's now going to be vice-versa, with Maharashtra being the first state to acquire 20 Kanals of land in Kashmir. The Maharashtra government has allocated Rs 77 crore for building Maharashtra Bhawans in Kashmir as well as Ayodhya.
Suri highlighted the socio-economic benefits of such investments, stating that they not only contribute to the economy but also facilitate a deeper understanding of each other's cultures. The Maharashtra Bhawan will serve as a platform to showcase language, cuisine, attire, and festivals, thereby fostering stronger bonds between people.
The BJP leader underscored the need for additional accommodation facilities in Kashmir, especially during peak tourist seasons. He noted that since the abrogation of Article 370, there has been a significant increase in tourist footfall, making such facilities essential.
Suri expressed optimism that the construction of Maharashtra Bhawan will encourage other states to follow suit and establish similar facilities in Kashmir. He praised the efforts of Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha in expediting the land allotment process and thanked Maharashtra Chief Minister for his cooperation.
The construction of Maharashtra Bhawan is not just about providing accommodations but also about promoting cultural exchange and fostering stronger ties between Maharashtra and Kashmir. It represents a step towards enhancing tourism infrastructure and promoting socio-economic development in the region.
