Samba police foils 2 bovine smuggling attempts, rescues 14 bovines

SAMBA, Mar 4: Samba Police has today foiled two separate bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba and Police Station Ghagwal, rescued fourteen bovines and seized two vehicles used in the illegal transportation of bovines. A Police party of Police Post Rakh Amb Talli headed by Incharge Police Post Rakh Amb Talli during vehicle checking at Naka Rakh Amb Talli, intercepted a truck bearing registration No JK03K-3485 coming via border road for checking. During checking of the vehicle, ten bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner concealed in a fabricated genset like container and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
A case FIR No. 58/2024 u/s 188 IPC 11 PCA Act, 39/192 MV Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
Similarly, a Police party of Border Police Post Babbar Nallah led by SHO PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking at Naka BPP Babber Nallah , signalled to stop a Tata Yodha load carrier bearing registration number JK14J-6452 coming via border road for checking. But the driver of vehicle accelerated the speed endangering the life of police personnel on naka duty and hit the vehicle with naka road barrier causing damage to it. The alert cops successfully intercepted the vehicle near naka point and during checking of the vehcile, four bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission. A case FIR No. 28/2024 u/s 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act, 3 PDPP Act, 50,52,54 Transport of Animals Rules has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
All the rescued bovines have been shifted to a safer place and the vehicles used for the transportation of bovines have also been seized.
