| Soz shocked over accident, | | Azad flies to Doda, meet survivors | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 25- Union Minister for Water Resources and President, Pradesh Congress Committee, Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz has expressed his deep shock and grief over the death of 27 persons and injuries to 16 others in a road accident near Pul-Doda in Jammu region today. The bus, which was on its way to Jammu from Bhaderwah, skipped off the road and plunged into Neeru River, about 170 km. from Jammu. In his message, Prof. Soz said that the large number of road accidents in the Doda and Kishatwar districts were a constant reminder of the fact that our traffic and road management in this area left much to be desired. He urged the State Government to put in effect measures which could put an end to such road tragedies and save the lives of innocent passengers. Prof. Soz has conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and urged the State authorities to ensure early relief to the affected families. Former minister and sitting MLC Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak has expressed shock and grief on the tragic road accident near Pul Doda in which 35 precious lives were lost, besides injuring seven others. While expressing his heartfelt sympathy with the bereaved families, Charak has urged upon the government to take effective measures to avoid such fatal accidents on these routes. He has also urged upon the government to pay immediate compensation to the next of kin of the deceased and provide proper medical facilities to the injured. Charak has expressed his sincere gratitude to former Chief Minister and AICC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad for visiting the site of the accident and taking stock of the situation personally to ensure proper relief measures and sympathies to the bereaved families. In the meanwhile, MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani accompanied by GM Saroori, MLA Inderwal and Ghulam Mustafa Azad , senior congress leader, immediately after hearing about the tragic bus mishap, called on the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to lodge their protest over non plying of SRTC buses in the erstwhile Doda district.
