Gaiety, fervor mark Women’s Day celebration at GDC Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, Mar 5: The Women Development Cell at Government Degree College Kishtwar, under the convenership of Prof. Falak, in collaboration with NSS Unit, Career Counseling and Guidance Cell (CCGC), and the District Social Welfare Department, celebrated International Women’s Day 2024 with great fervor and enthusiasm.
The event, held under the esteemed supervision of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Parihar, witnessed an active participation of approximately 150 students. The event was coordinated by Sonika Devi. The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Asma Javaid, setting the tone for the day’s festivities.
Students showcased their creativity and talent through various activities such as poster making, painting, and a seminar dedicated to Women’s Day. A panel of esteemed judges including Prof. Hitesh Kumar, Prof. Essar ul Ayuob, and Dr. Wasim Akram adjudicated the competitions.
The winners of the competitions in Painting were Saloni, Priya Manhas, and Pallavi who secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes respectively. Besides in Poster making Rekha Devi, Salma Liyaquat, and Mamat secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes respectively. Also in Seminar Abroo Wajid, Anurag Sharma, and Salma Liyaqat secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes respectively.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Parihar, in her address, emphasized the indispensable role of women across various sectors, acknowledging their contributions to society.
She lauded the Women Development Cell team for their efforts in organizing the successful event.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed faculty members including Prof. Umar Deen, Prof. Prithvi Raj, Dr. Sehrish Gazal, Prof. Prof. Vijay Kumar, Prof. Rishi Kumar, Prof. Vikram Singh, Prof. Yassir, and Dr. Zahoor Din. Representatives from the Social Welfare Department, including Indu Baala, Sanna Jan, Ruching Parihar, Monika Sharma, Diksha Sharma, Urvi Badyal, and Anwar Alaq Kichloo, also attended the event.
The celebration concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Bilal, expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers for making the event a grand success.
