NCC and NSS wings of GDC Udhampur spearhead three-day Pulse Polio Awareness Programme

UDHAMPUR, Mar 5: NCC and NSS Units of GDC Udhampur, under the guidance of the esteemed Principal Prof. (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta, organized a comprehensive Three-Day Pulse Polio Awareness Programme from March 1st to March 3rd, 2024. The initiative aimed to underscore the significance of Pulse Polio Immunization in ensuring the well-being of children. On the inaugural day, March 1st, NCC Cadets showcased their creativity through a poster-making competition, spreading awareness about the importance of Pulse Polio Immunization. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 50 boys and 25 girls.
Continuing the momentum, on March 2nd, all NCC Cadets and NSS Volunteers joined forces, echoing various slogans highlighting the imperative of the Pulse Polio Abhiyan.
The culminating day, March 3rd, witnessed a practical demonstration of dedication as 15 Cadets alongside 5 NSS Volunteers actively participated in assisting the nursing staff at District Hospital Udhampur during the immunization process. Their hands-on involvement not only provided valuable assistance but also offered them a firsthand understanding of the campaign's impact. Interacting with parents and locals, the cadets and volunteers imparted crucial information about polio drops, emphasizing its pivotal role in safeguarding children's health. This outreach effort not only instilled a sense of responsibility but also fulfilled the societal obligation ingrained in the ethos of NCC and NSS.
In his address, Principal Prof. (Dr) Romesh Gupta commended the cadets for their unwavering commitment to societal welfare. He underscored the pivotal role of youth, particularly NCC Cadets, in spearheading initiatives for societal betterment.
ANO Prof. (Capt) Shivani Sharma, Prof. Vijay Kumar, Dr. Gurpreet Kour, and Prof. Sanjeet Singh were applauded for their relentless efforts in nurturing the values of responsibility, altruism, and selflessness among NCC Cadets and NSS Volunteers.
