Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 5: Under the banner of 'Cheshta,' the NSS unit of Govt GLDM Degree College Hiranagar orchestrated a dynamic visit to its adopted village, Pathwal, as part of the ongoing 7-Days NSS Winter Camp. The initiative aimed to instill a sense of civic responsibility and promote informed participation in the democratic process among the villagers.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College, flagged off the rally from the college premises, setting the tone for the day's activities. Emphasizing the importance of voting and electoral processes, she urged the volunteers to share their knowledge with the residents of Pathwal. Enthusiastically, NSS volunteers marched towards the village, brandishing placards adorned with slogans advocating the significance of voting, such as "Nothing like Voting, I vote for sure."
The visit commenced with a plantation drive at Govt Middle School Pathwal, where teachers and students alike actively participated, pledging to nurture the planted saplings for the betterment of the environment.
Following the plantation, a cleanliness drive ensued in the village, with volunteers diligently collecting plastic waste from the streets, contributing to the beautification and cleanliness of Pathwal.
The visit culminated with a Voters Awareness rally, where volunteers passionately raised slogans like "Shodo Apne saare Kaam," "Chalo Pehle kare Matdaan," and "Hume apna farz nibana hai, Matdaan karne Zaroor jana hai," urging residents to exercise their valuable voting rights as informed citizens.
Prof Ram Krishan, NSS PO, commended the enthusiastic participation of the NSS volunteers in all three activities, underscoring their dedication to community welfare. Accompanying faculty members, including Prof Poonam Kamotra, Prof Bindu Sharma, Prof Amit Kumar Sharma, Dr. Rajani Bala, Prof Surinder Kumar, Prof Neeru Sharma, and Dr. Bharat Bhushan, provided invaluable encouragement and support throughout the visit.
The event exemplified the NSS unit's commitment to fostering a culture of civic engagement and social responsibility, leaving a lasting impact on the adopted village of Pathwal.
