Govt Degree College Samba organies workshop

SAMBA, Mar 7: Women Development Cell of SPPND GDC Samba organized two -day workshop on Calico Printing on 6th-7th March in collaboration with Department of Handicrafts to commemorate International Women's Day -2024. The workshop was designed keeping in mind this year's theme "Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress" - Mahilaon mein Nivesh karen, Pragati mein Tezee Layen. This workshop exuberantly highlighted the promotion of traditional crafts. In this workshop skilled trainers Subash Sharma, Sushma, Mansi Rattan, Gunjan and Bhanu Partap from Department of Handicraft gave hands on training to 30 girl students of the college on charts and fabric using multiple colours. The primary objective of the workshop was to equip students with practical skills in handicrafts promoting self-reliance. The students were benefitted by the expertise of these instructors. The valedictory function was graced by Sukhleen Kour (IES) Director Planning, Higher Education as Guest of Honor. Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri, Principal of the college, in her address, commended the efforts of these skilled instructors in nurturing the local artistic ethos of Samba. She exhorted that When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment. Ms Sukhleen Kour in her insightful address underscored the pivotal role played by such initiatives in fostering women's economic empowerment. She further exhorted that this workshop will surely enhance the learning skill of the students and foster creativity in them. She reassured that this workshop will create a meaningful impact on the lives of the participants keeping in mind professional endeavors. The students also shared their feedback about the exemplary learning experience they had during the workshop and were felicitated with certificates. The workshop was coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Sarabpreet Kour, Convener, WDC.
