Security review bolsters railway safety: Officials inspect ongoing projects from Katra to Sangaldan

JAMMU, Mar 7: In a proactive move to fortify the security infrastructure along the crucial railway route from Katra to Sangaldan, a comprehensive joint security review was undertaken on 6th March 2024. Led by Rayees Mohammad Bhat-IPS, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, the inspection involved high-ranking officials including Mohita Sharma-IPS, SSP Reasi, Sanjay Kotwal-IPS, SSP Railway Katra, and Anita Sharma-IPS, SSP Commandant IRP 1st Bn, among others from various police and central armed police forces (CAPF).
The inspection encompassed a thorough examination of ongoing railway projects and critical infrastructure such as Chamera Station, Trolley point, Tunnel 34 entry point, Anji Khad Bridge, Reasi Railway Station, Bakkal Railway Station, Kauri Bridge, Railway guest house Kauri, Dugga station, and Entry/Exit points of various tunnels from T-34 to T-42. Key focus areas included security measures at railway stations, tracks, tunnels, and strategic points like Police Post at Kouri bridge and sentry posts at vital locations.
Discussions during the review centered on enhancing the security grid along the railway route to ensure the safety and integrity of the infrastructure. Measures to strengthen security checkpoints, bolster surveillance, and optimize response protocols were deliberated upon, with an emphasis on proactive measures to mitigate potential threats.
The collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies and railway authorities underscores a commitment to safeguarding public infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted operations along the Katra to Sangaldan railway corridor. Such proactive initiatives are essential in maintaining the safety and security of critical transportation networks, contributing to overall regional development and connectivity.
