| Manu reelected Press Club prez, almost entire team repeated | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 26: In a keenly contested and watched over election, a veteran journalist with long standing experience, Manu Shrivatsa was re-elected as the President of the Press Club of Jammu, results of which were declared late last night. Press Club of Jammu, it may be mentioned here, is the only organized and democratic elected body of professional journalists in Jammu and Kashmir with membership from across the state. Many leading journalists from Jammu and Kashmir working on other parts of the country are also members of the Press Club of Jammu. It was literally an endorsement of the massive infrastructure development and other academic activities carried out in past few years that almost entire team was re-elected in the election polling for which was held on Wednesday. Editor of Urdu Daily, Taskeen, Suhail Kazmi has been re-elected as the Secretary General while among other office bearers elected were: Raju Kerni of Zee News as Vice President and Zorawar Singh Jamwal of Associated Press/ JK News Plus as Treasurer. Manu defeated veteran journalist and Editor of the J&K edition of Dainik Jagran Abhimanyu Sharma with a huge margin. Manu polled 215 votes against 143 of Sharma. According to the Press Club constitution, the next most important post in the office is that of Secretary General for which Suhail Kazmi was re-elected. Suhail polled 250 votes against 105 of Anil Sharma. Raju Kerni, who was Treasurer in the previous team has now been elected as Vice President. He defeated Arun Sharma, the Resident Editor of the Indian Express, Jammu edition. Raju polled 253 votes against 109 of Arun. The youngest among the office bearers is Zorawar Singh Jamwal who has been elected a Treasurer. Zorawar polled 239 votes against 112 of Adarsh. Manu Srivatsa and Suhail Kazmi were first elected as President and Secretary General of the Press Club of Jammu in 2004.
