Jammu,February 27 : A major reshuffle in the state administration and police is on the cards ahead of announcement of the Lok Sabha poll calender by chief election commissioner anytime after Monday. Highly reliable sources in the civil secretariat on Friday revealed that chief minister Omar Abdullah on Friday held a meeting with deputy chief minister Tara Chand to discuss the proposed reshuffle and is believed to have cleared names of senior officers likely to be shifted to new postings. It is learnt that in the absence of any cabinet meeting taking place in the near future the state government may issue direct orders and direct officers to take charge of new postings. Official sources in the civil secretariat revealed that the meeting took place after the Friday prayers inthe office of the chief minister and lasted for long time. The sources said that the state government has hastened the exercise after it came to know through knowledgeable circles in New Delhi that any time after Monday teh CEC is going to announce the poll schedule after which model code of conduct will come in to picture and it will be difficult for the state governments to order transfer and postings. A similar exercise would be carried in the police and names of several senior officers were doing the rounds who are likely to be shifted to new postings
