Early Times Report
KATHUA, Mar 14: GDC Kathua (Boys) has embarked on a noble endeavor with its Winter Special Camp, running from the 13th to the 19th of March 2024, aimed at fostering community engagement and environmental consciousness. Under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Seema Mir, the camp is making significant strides towards community development and environmental preservation.
On the second day of the camp, NSS Program Officer Dr. Kulbir Singh, Prof. Arvind Kumar, Dr. Pinkey, and dedicated NSS volunteers ventured into the adopted village of Logate to partake in a series of impactful activities. Commencing with a morning assembly at Government High School Logate, the NSS volunteers extended warm felicitations to the Head Master, Guljari Lal, and the diligent staff members, presenting them with saplings of indigenous plants as a symbol of environmental stewardship.
Subsequently, a comprehensive cleanliness drive was organized within the school premises, aligning with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative. NSS volunteers demonstrated their commitment to hygiene and sanitation by beautifying the school building with vibrant paintings depicting themes such as Clean India, Green India, and Save Environment. The presence of Chief Education Officer Kathua, Kishor Kumar, further underscored the importance of such initiatives, as he lauded the efforts of the volunteers and pledged unwavering support from the education department.
In addition to the school-centric activities, an awareness rally was conducted throughout the adopted village, amplifying the message of cleanliness and sanitation. Armed with informative charts, volunteers engaged in door-to-door campaigns, educating the villagers about the significance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in their surroundings. The mission extended beyond land-based initiatives as well, with volunteers dedicating efforts to the cleanliness of local natural water bodies under the mission Amrit Sarovar, ensuring the holistic well-being of the community and its environment.
The Winter Special Camp at GDC Kathua serves as a testament to the institution's commitment to instilling social responsibility and environmental consciousness among its students. Through collaborative efforts and proactive engagement, the camp is making a tangible difference in the lives of the villagers.
