PIB TO LAUNCH PUBLIC INFORMATION CAMPAIGN AT LEH.

Leh,September18,2006.
The Press Information Bureau, Government of India, in coordination with various Media Units of Information and Broadcasting Ministry and State Government is launching Public Information Campaign in Leh from 21st September to 25th September,2006. The Campaign will be held at Polo Ground, Leh.
In this connection a meeting of District Officers was convened by the District Development Commissioner, Leh, Sh.M.K.Dwivedi which was also attended by PIB officers. Sh.Dwivedi stressed upon the district officers that since Press Information Bureau ,Government of India is launching this National Campaign in Leh, it should be our endeavor to provide full support to PIB in making this Campaign a success. He said that this Campaign is of an important nature and it would provide an opportunity to rural masses to known about various centrally sponsored schemes which are being implemented in the Leh district. He instructed all the State Government departments to put up their stalls at the main venue site to display their products and highlight their achievements made in various fields under various centrally sponsored schemes.
Sh.Dwivedi said that the Campaign will disseminate information to the targeted beneficiaries focusing on the flagship programmes of the Central Government.
Earlier, Media & Communication Officer, Press Information Bureau, Sh. R.K.Raina highlighted the main purpose of Public Information Campaign .He said that the Campaign aims at creating awareness and dissemination of information about the flagship programmes of the Central Government.
The Campaign at Leh will be the second Campaign being launched by PIB in J&K State. The first such Campaign was recently held in Kishtwar(Doda) from August 29th to 3rd September,2006 which was inaugurated by Hon’ble J&K Chief Minister, Sh. Ghulam Nabi Azad.
