Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 14: In a landmark development aimed at fostering economic empowerment and igniting entrepreneurial spirit, the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Government has extended financial support to 350 youth hailing from displaced families of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), West Pakistan Refugees, and Kashmiri Migrant families. This initiative marks a significant stride towards creating a conducive environment for sustainable livelihoods and community development.
The momentous event, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at the Convention Centre, signifies the government's unwavering commitment to bolstering the socio-economic fabric of the region. Addressing the gathering, Lt Governor Sinha underscored the transformative potential of entrepreneurship, emphasizing that it transcends mere livelihood generation to become a vehicle for realizing aspirations and dreams.
During a Special Governance camp organized for the purpose, various government agencies including District Industry Centres, Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB), J&K Mission Youth, in collaboration with J&K Bank and the Relief & Rehabilitation department, conducted an extensive outreach program. This initiative aimed to engage and empower youth keen on establishing their own business ventures, thereby contributing meaningfully to societal progress.
Highlighting the proactive stance of the Union Territory Administration, guided by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lt Governor Sinha reaffirmed the government's resolve to nurture a progressive entrepreneurial ecosystem. He urged the youth, particularly girls from displaced and migrant communities, to leverage the self-employment schemes offered by the government for their socio-economic advancement.
Commending the J&K Bank for its pioneering initiative, 'Sewa Se Swabhimaan,' dedicated to the economic upliftment of Kashmiri Migrants and displaced families, Lt Governor Sinha lauded the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved in realizing this ambitious endeavor.
Noteworthy individuals from various departments were also honored for their invaluable contributions to the self-employment initiative, underscoring the collective commitment towards fostering inclusive growth and prosperity in the region.
The presence of dignitaries, including Sh Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary of Industries & Commerce Department, Baldev Prakash, MD and CEO of J&K Bank, and Sh Arvind Karwani, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), alongside senior officials, prominent citizens, and beneficiaries, further exemplifies the broad-based support for this transformative initiative.
The financial assistance extended to displaced youth not only promises to catalyze individual enterprise but also holds the potential to cultivate a vibrant entrepreneurial culture, thereby ushering in a new era of socio-economic empowerment and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
