SIU produces chargesheet in cop killing case

Srinagar, Mar 14: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday produced a charge sheet in the killing of a cop in Srinagar in 2022.
The chargesheet was produced against two militants, one of them dead in the Court of NIA Srinagar.
On May 7, 2022 Constable Ghulam Hassan Dar, working as a driver, was on way to his office when militants fired upon him near Aiwa Bridge along the Ali Jan road in Srinagar. Dar later succumbed to his injuries.
The case was investigated by SIU and they filed the chargsheet against the two accused militants Adil Ahmad Parray of Badragund Ganderbal and Basit Ahmad Dar of Redwani Payeen Qaimoh Kulgam.
"Today, the charge sheet of case FIR No. 39/2022 under section 7/27 A Act, 302 IPC, 13, 16, 18, 20 & 38 UA(P) Act of Police Station Soura, Srinagar was presented before the Court of NIA Srinagar. The case has been presented against the two accused terrorists namely Adil Ahmad Parray son of Habibullah Parray resident of Badragund Ganderbal (A1) & Basit Ahmad Dar son of Late Ab. Rashid Dar resident of Redwani Payeen Qaimoh Kulgam," a police statement said.
Adil Parray, who was associated with Lashker-e-Taiba was killed in an encounter in June 2022 at Kreesbal Palpora Sangam area of Srinagar.
Police said Basit is absconding and he is still on the run regarding whom the Court is prayed to take cognizance as abated and under section 299 CrPC respectively.
The next date of hearing is fixed on March 28, 2024.
