GDC Kathua celebrates World Consumer Rights Day

KATHUA, Mar 15: In commemoration of World Consumer Rights Day, the Department of Commerce at Govt Degree College (GDC) Kathua orchestrated a vibrant and intellectually stimulating Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition. Under the esteemed patronage of Prof. Seema Mir, Principal of GDC Kathua, the event aimed to instill awareness about consumer rights and responsibilities among the youth.
Thirty enthusiastic participants showcased their creative prowess and advocacy spirit, rendering the competition an epitome of artistic expression. Through captivating posters and compelling slogans, the students underscored the paramount significance of consumer protection, fair trade practices, and ethical consumption. The event not only served as a platform for showcasing artistic talents but also facilitated a deeper understanding of consumer rights issues, empowering and protecting consumers among college students.
Principal Prof. Seema Mir applauded the commendable efforts of the department in organizing events geared towards fostering awareness and responsibility among students as consumers. Prof. Charandeep Handa, the Head of the Department of Commerce, enlightened the participants about the theme of Consumer Rights Day 2024, 'Fair and Responsible Artificial Intelligence,' underscoring its relevance in today's digital landscape.
The distinguished judging panel, comprised of Dr. Yaspaul Sharma (HOD Urdu), Dr. Neelam Bhagat (HOD Home Science), and Prof. Manmohan Singh (Dept. of History), meticulously evaluated the entries.
The competition witnessed Mahi Verma clinching the first position, followed by Anshika Vaid securing the second position, and Stuti attaining the third position, showcasing exceptional creativity and insight.
The successful execution of the event was attributed to the meticulous organization by Dr. Pinkey and Prof. Fateh under the vigilant supervision of Prof. Charandeep Handa, the HOD of Commerce. The event served as a significant step towards nurturing a generation of informed and responsible consumers, echoing the ethos of World Consumer Rights Day.
