SK Police Academy concludes 5-day course on Cyber Crime investigation

UDHAMPUR, Mar 15: The S.K Police Academy Udhampur recently concluded a five-day intensive course on "Investigation of Cyber Crime," sponsored by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi. The program, which commenced on February 11th, 2024, saw the active participation of 22 police officers from various states and union territories, ranging from the rank of Inspectors to Deputy Superintendents of Police.
Designed as a capacity-building initiative, the course aimed to equip law enforcement officers with the necessary skills to tackle the escalating challenge of cybercrime in a comprehensive and coordinated manner. Participants engaged in extensive discussions, practical demonstrations, and deliberations covering a wide spectrum of cybercrime types, including Phishing, Vishing, Cyberbullying, Email Bombing, and more.
Key topics explored during the course included the analysis of Call Data Records (CDRs) and Internet Protocol Data Records (IPDRs), IP Address tracking, Bank Frauds, Mobile Forensics, Email Tracing, and the collection and preservation of electronic data. Standard Operating Procedures for seizing computers and mobile devices, Email Forensics, Steganography, Cryptography, and Hashing techniques were also emphasized.
The valedictory function, held to mark the conclusion of the course, was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Shri Garib Dass, IPS, ADGP, Director at SKPA, who highlighted the importance of staying updated with modern techniques for handling cybercrimes. Other notable attendees included Shri Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, SSP, Deputy Director SKPA, Shri Rakesh Sambyal, Chief Prosecuting Officer, and Shri Ashish Gupta, Dy.SP, Asstt. Director (Trgs/R&D).
Eminent speakers such as Sh. Rahul Pandit, Director Ideogram Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Jammu, Shri Kamal Sharma, Dy. Director Prosecution, CID Hqrs., and representatives from the Cyber Police Station Jammu delivered insightful lectures to the participants. The course, meticulously coordinated by Inspector Rohit Gupta and assisted by HC Randip Singh, received accolades for its comprehensive curriculum and practical approach.
The successful conclusion of the course underscores the commitment of S.K Police Academy Udhampur towards enhancing the capabilities of law enforcement officers in combating cyber threats effectively.
