Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 15: In a commendable move, the Sports Association, led by Vice President of the Gymnastics Federation of India and President of the Gymnastics Association of J&K, Er Kiran Wattal, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the J&K administration and Sports Council for their initiative in honoring sports achievers with cash awards.
During a well-organized ceremony held at Parade Ground Jammu on March 12, 2024, the J&K Sports Council, under the guidance of Hon’ble LG Sh. Manoj Sinha, distributed cash awards totaling Rs 1 crore, 35 lakh to 368 sports persons from the union territory.
Er Kiran Wattal remarked that these appreciation awards would serve as significant boosters for the sports persons who tirelessly strive to achieve their goals at the national and international levels. He hailed this initiative as a remarkable step towards the honest promotion of sports in J&K.
Acknowledging the efforts of the Sports Council Secretary, Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Wattal highlighted her dedicated work towards the development of sports in the region. He emphasized that such initiatives not only engage the youth in healthy activities but also promote a culture of sportsmanship.
Wattal further praised the Sports Council for its efforts in creating world-class infrastructure in J&K, including stadiums equipped with state-of-the-art sports materials. He noted the rapid development of football and hockey turfs, as well as indoor sports complexes across the districts of J&K, which, he added, surpassed similar initiatives elsewhere in India.
In conclusion, Er Kiran Wattal appealed to LG Sh. Manoj Sinha to consider organizing the prestigious National Games in 2026. He underlined the potential of J&K players, as demonstrated in the previous edition of the National Games in Goa, and expressed confidence in the administration’s support for their participation in such events.
