Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 16: Speaking on the announcements made by the Congress in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections regarding the better economic and social conditions of women, who represent half the population of the entire country, senior woman leader of the party and General Secretary State Congress Namrata Sharma claimed that in this country If any party can actually provide justice to women, it is only Congress. Talking to journalists, Namrata Sharma said that the five justices talked about by the party's inspiration and former president Rahul Gandhi, keeping in mind the economic and social upliftment of the women of the country, are not only accepted by the women of this country with open arms but being a representative of half of the population, women will play a very pivotal in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It may be noted that on behalf of the party, Rahul Gandhi had made five promises regarding women's justice, the first and most important of which is to provide financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh per year to those women who are not financially strong under Mahilya Nayay. Apart from this, he promised fifty percent women participation in government jobs, doubling the allowance of Anganwadi, Asha workers and mid-day meal workers, and appointing a Nodal Officer and Women's Counsel in every district to provide legal information to women, she added. Namarta also appreciated and considered the need of an hour to establish hostels in every district of the country on the name of Savitri Bayi Phule.
Reacting to all these promises of women's justice, Namrata Sharma said that on one hand BJP is leaving no stone unturned to divide this country in the name of religion and sect, while on the other hand Congress is making every possible effort so that the students, farmers and women of this country can get justice.
She commended Rahul Gandhi's visionary leadership and emphasized the party's dedication to advancing women's causes. She reiterated the party's commitment to empowering women, underscoring the influential role of Smt. Sonia Gandhi, a steadfast advocate for women's rights in Parliament.
She pointed out that over the past decade under the Narendra Modi government, women have not seen improvements in their lives, facing challenges such as inflation, unemployment, and safety concerns. She commended Congress President Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge for unveiling the five pledges of the 'Nari Nyay Guarantee,' which include the Mahalaxmi scheme (providing Rs one lakh to impoverished women), Aadhi Aabadi Pura Hakk (ensuring 50 percent reservation for women in government jobs), Shakti Ka Sammaan (doubling the government's contribution to the monthly income of Anganwadi, ASHA, and midday meal workers), Adhikar Maitri (appointing a nodal officer in every district), and Savitribai Phule hostel (establishing at least one hostel for working women at district headquarters).
Pointing to the recent statement of the Prime Minister, he said that on one hand, he counts farmers, poor, women and students in this country in the name of caste, while on the other hand, his government has not done anything for these people in the last ten years. Citing issues like unemployment, exploitation of women, poverty, starvation and malnutrition, he said that whatever guarantees Congress has given till date in every state, it has been fulfilled in the first six months. She assured that in the same respect once again her party had promised its Nayay to the women, farmers and students of the entire country and once the Congress will frame the government in the centre all those promises will be kept up.
Namrta stated that "Our guarantees are not like the hollow promises made by the Modi government, which result in unfulfilled pledges. We will deposit Rs one lakh annually directly into the bank accounts of impoverished women, without the need for any surveys." She further highlighted the increased burden on the women in India with high inflation and rising prices of daily household items such as LPG, milk, vegetables under BJP rule since 2014. The BJP has failed to deliver on all its promises and has increased the burden on women in the country.
Welcoming all these five promises, he said that the women of Jammu and Kashmir are not only happily accepting these promises but are also understanding very well which political group is actually serious about their rights. Citing Asha workers, Anganwadi workers and mid-day meal workers, he said that for decades the women deployed on these posts were trying to increase their daily allowance but the present government did not take care of them. And if in the coming time, Congress is established at the Center of this country, then it will directly benefit not only the women of this country but also the farmers, students and people living below the poverty line on the streets of this country.
