Nomadic Gujjars form body for safeguarding their interests

Jammu, Feb 27- In order to focus the attention of the government towards their problems
and also to safeguard their interests, the nomadic, migratory community of Gujjars and
Bakerwals today constituted a body under the name ‘JK Khana Badosh Gujjar and
Bakerwal Tehreek-e-Insaf’.
At a meeting held here today the community unanimously elected Mohammed Aslam Kohli, as the president of the newly formed outfit while Ch.Saif-ud-Din Seer of Bandipore was elected as Vice President, Ch. Mohammed Sharief as general secretary and Ch. Abdul Khalid as Cashier of the forum.
The participants at the meeting, however, maintained that this committee shall be adhoc
for one year and thereafter fresh elections shall be held in March next year. The
Committee including its members shall be responsible to watch the interests of this
nomadic community and will not do anything which shall be detrimental to the interests
of this community, Mohammed Sharief General secretary said in a handout today.
