Kathua police tightens noose on illicit liquor trade

KATHUA, Mar 16: In continuation to stringent actions against illicit liquor menace, Kathua police today cracked down on illicit liquor, conducted series of raids in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kathua at Ghatti area, and destroyed approx. 800 litres of Lahan and seized 150 litres of illicit liquor.
During an early morning search operation conducted by Kathua Police in which Police team of Police Station Kathua led by DySP Headquarters Kathua Manjeet Singh & SHO PS Kathua Insp. Ajay Singh Chib and police team of SOG Kathua led by DySP PC Kathua Tilak Raj Bhardwaj conducted several raids in village Ghatti and destroyed 800 litres of lahan , seized 150 liters of illicit liquor (Desi) and destroyed makeshift production units used for manufacturing of illicit liquor.
In this regard a case FIR 86/2024 U/S 48 (a), (e) Excise Act was registered at PS Kathua against the two accused persons namely 1. Devi Dayal S/o Chuni Lal R/o Ghatti Kathua 2. Bodhi S/o Hans Raj R/o Ghatti Kathua who somehow managed to flee away from the spot.
SSP Kathua said that strong steps are being taken to contain drug and liquor menace in the district. He said such raids will be conducted in other identified areas where such illegal activities are going on. The SSP Kathua also warned all those who are indulging in illicit liquor trade saying strict action under law will be taken against them. He also appealed to people of the area to come forward and share information about any such illegal activities with Police by dialing 100 or 9858034100
