| Medical awareness camp for disabled at Thathri | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 27- A day long block level medial awareness camp for disabled was organized by education department at Thathri in Doda district. The camp was organized in collaboration with Jay Kay Women Welfare society and district child protection committee. Shamima Akhtar Zonal Education Officer Thathri who was chief guest on the occasion said that the world is evolving fast in various aspects of life and we as Indian cannot afford to lag behind in any field. She called for giving better life to disabled children particularly the rural ones as they are suffering from disabilities and have little knowledge of different types of diseases through which they got disability. She said that the focus and emphasis need to be put on the revival of education of the disabled children so that a lot of human resource in the form of rural children gets utilized to the optimum. The other speakers at the camp expressed the hope that people in general and the NGO’s in particular would come forward to create awareness and motivate the rural people to help disabled children and women by mobilizing indigenous and local resources to the maximum. A large gathering from the area, besides a good number of disabled children took part in the awareness camp. During the camp check up of eye and Ortho disabled children was conducted and medicines were provided on the spot.
