JAMMU, FEBRUARY 27 – Minister for Health Mr. Sham Lal Sharma today said that the Government would seriously consider creation of a revolving fund for placing it at the disposal of GMC or Red Cross for utilization in disaster management. This move has been initiated in light of the recent spate of road accidents along the National Highway in the erstwhile Doda district in a meeting of Health Department, here today. MLA, Inderwal, Mr. G. M. Saroori, MLA, Kishtwar, Mr. Sajad Kichloo, Commissioner/Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Mr. Atal Dulloo, Principal, GMC, Jammu, Dr. Rajinder Singh besides other officers also attended the meeting. Giving details, the Minister said the necessity for creation of such a fund was felt to meet the post-accident emergencies so that precious lives are saved due to timely health care. He said the fund would be part of a mechanism to help meet treatment and other extraordinary expenses of the people injured in the accidents. The Minister said that a Liaison Officer would also be appointed and positioned in Control room, GMC to help the injured in cases of emergency.
