| MLC calls for enhancing salaries of ReT teachers | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, FEBRUARY 27 – Resuming Discussion on Motion of Thanks on Governor’s Address on the second day today in Legislative Council, Mr. Mohammad Rashid Qureshi, while supporting the Address, sought enhancement of remuneration for ReT teachers from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 5,000. He also demanded completion of all PHE schemes in Rajouri and Poonch districts within the stipulated timeframe. Mr. Qureshi sought opening of medical colleges, besides child and maternity hospitals in the two districts for the convenience of people of these hilly districts. He also demanded up-gradation of road infrastructure in vulnerable and accident-prone areas in Poonch, Rajouri as well as Doda district, which met with a tragic accident on February 25. He also sought extension of rail projects in these districts. Mr. M. Y. Taing, while welcoming the Address, said it contains various pro-people projects to be undertaken by the new Coalition Government, adding that that the twin cities of Srinagar and Jammu should be developed on modern lines with basic amenities in tow. Mr. Lal Mohammad Sabir also supported the Address and demanded that called for strengthening the bonds of communal harmony between different communities. Mr. Nasarullah also supported the Address and sought completion of all pending projects in Kargil district. He also sought necessary infrastructure for education and up-gradation of potable water facilities in the district. Mr. Ali Mohammad Bhat also spoke in favour of the Address.
