Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 18: A few days after Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti accused National Conference vice-president, Omar Abdullah, of breaking the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), the NC leader on Monday claimed that alliance is ‘intact.’
In reply to a question over the status of the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), Omar while talking to reporters here said the alliance stands “What has happened to its status? We run our different parties… We have held press conferences together as well as individually. And today, I am talking to you individually, does that mean there is no PAGD. It stands and they will meet in a day or two,” he said.
Pertinently, last week NC and PDP had lashed out at each other after the former ruled out conceding Anantnag- Rajouri Lok Sabha seat to the PDP, citing its poor performance in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing a news conference in Srinagar, Omar Abdullah had declared that the NC would field candidates from all three seats in the Kashmir during the upcoming LS po

ls.
He had stated that conceding Anantnag seat to the PDP was out of the question. Omar had justified the decision by citing the PDP’s dismal performance in the 2019, LS polls, asserting that supporting PDP was illogical.
Omar had accused PDP of breaching coalition principles and engaging in social media attacks against his party.
He had criticized the “PDP’s mudslinging tactics and stressed that responsibility for maintaining the alliance should not solely rest on the NC”.
In a swift response, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti had termed the NC’s decision as a “setback to the hopes of the people of J&K.”
She had accused the National Conference of breaking PAGD unity, saying that Omar Abdullah has himself said that PDP is out of the alliance. "They have turned PAGD into a joke."
When asked about Omar’s jibe of PDP standing 3rd during the 2019 LS elections from Anantnag seat, Mehbooba had said that both Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah have lost elections in the past. “Does that mean they should not contest again? This logic is bizarre,” Mehbooba had said.
