GDC RS Pura hosts awareness program on Drug Abuse Prevention

RS PURA, Mar 20: Government Degree College (GDC) R.S. Pura, in collaboration with the Munsiff Court R.S. Pura, orchestrated an impactful awareness program focusing on the prevention of drug abuse. Attended by students and faculty members alike, the event aimed to address the pressing issue of substance abuse within the community.
The program, organized under the aegis of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee, commenced with a warm welcome speech delivered by Prof. Neelam Kumari, the convener of the Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Cell. Prof. Kumari shed light on the detrimental effects of various drugs, emphasizing the urgency of combatting substance abuse.
Advocate Chandani Sudan and PLV Parminder Kour served as resource persons, enlightening the audience about the challenges faced by drug addicts and the signs of addiction. Advocate Sudan underscored the importance of steering clear of drugs in all forms, highlighting the grave consequences that accompany addiction.
In a poignant address, PLV Parminder Kour emphasized the collective responsibility in combating drug trafficking and trading, stressing the need for widespread awareness to tackle this menace effectively.
The event received invaluable guidance from Prof. (Dr.) Rajni Bhagat, the Principal of GDC R.S. Pura, who highlighted the significance of such initiatives in educating students about the perils of substance abuse. Dr. Bhagat emphasized the role of awareness programs in fostering a supportive environment and empowering individuals to make informed choices.
The coordination of the event was impeccably managed by Prof. Neelam Kumari, with support from faculty members including Dr. Rakesh Choudhary, Dr. Rekha Rani, and Mr. Sunny Kumar. Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch delivered the formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and emphasizing the collective commitment to combating drug abuse.
The program served as a crucial platform for dialogue and education, reinforcing the commitment of GDC R.S. Pura and its stakeholders towards building a drug-free society and nurturing a healthier, more resilient community.
