| Police arrest 2 drug peddlers with 90 kg poppy straw | | |

SRINAGAR, Mar 20: Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 90 kg of poppy straw from their possession in Jammu Kashmir's Anantnag district.
Police on Wednesday said that during searches they intercepted two vehicles near the Higher Secondary School Kullar and recovered about 90 Kgs of poppy straw from them.
The drivers of these vehicles identified as Ubaid Gulzar Lone and Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, both residents of Taki Maqsood Shah Bijbehara, were arrested on the spot. Contraband as well as vehicles used for the commission of crime was also seized.
Police also recovered Rs 39000 in cash from their possession.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered in Pahalgam police station and an investigation was taken up. |
