NSS Winter Camp Inaugurated at GDC Dharmari

DHARMARI, Mar 20: Principal of Government Degree College, Dharmari, Dr. Preetpal Kour inaugurated seven days NSS Winter Camp 2023-24 in the presence of staff members, students and the NSS volunteers and urged the students to value the importance of their vote during elections as they are the makers of Indian Democracy. The Camp will be organized from 20th March to 30th March, 2024 except holidays. On day first of the Camp, the volunteers participated in an Awareness Program organized by the NSS Unit of the College in collaboration with district administration where the volunteers and students were informed about the extended timelines for registering their names in the Electoral Rolls through their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed, BLO of Polling station 127-HSS Dharmari briefed the students about the importance of vote and detailed procedure for getting registered in the Electoral Roll. The NSS Program Officer of the college, Prof. Ajay Kumar also made the volunteers aware about the role of new voters in the greatest festival of Indian democracy i.e. Elections. After the Awareness Program, the NSS Volunteers visited the adjoining water bodies and cleaned their premises to spread awareness about the importance of natural water resources in our life and the need for their conservation. Various other activities like Plantation, Cleanliness Drives, Medical Camp, Awareness and Cultural Programs will be organized in the coming days of the Camp. The Camp is being organized under the guidelines of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and the Department of Higher Education, Jammu and Kashmir with the guidance of College Principal, Dr. Preetpal Kour and the supervision of NSS Program Officer, Prof. Ajay Kumar. Others present during the function includes Prof. Balbir Kumar, Prof. Mohinder Singh, Prof. Vinod Kumar and Prof. Balwinder.
