Jammu police cracks scooty theft case: Thief apprehended, stolen vehicle recovered

JAMMU, Mar 22: In a remarkable display of efficiency and diligence, the Police Post Rehari, Jammu, swiftly resolved a scooter theft case within 24 hours, leading to the arrest of the culprit and the recovery of the stolen property. The incident unfolded on March 21, 2024, when Ravinder Kumar, a resident of Ram Nagar Udhampur, lodged a written complaint regarding the theft of his TVS NTORQ scooter with registration number JK14 J-6475. The theft occurred in Lane no. 7, New Plot, Jammu, by unknown perpetrators.
Upon receiving the complaint, a case under FIR No. 29/2024 U/S 379 IPC was promptly registered at the Police Station Pacca Danga, Jammu, and investigation procedures commenced without delay. Under the directives of SP City North, Shri Shivam Siddharth IPS, a specialized team was formed to track down the accused. Led by SHO P/S Pacca Danga, Inspector Rakesh Singh, and assisted by I/C PP Rehari, SI Muzaffer Hussain Shah, the team diligently pursued the case under the supervision of SDPO City North Jammu, Shri Devinder Singh Bandral-JKPS.
Through meticulous efforts and the analysis of various CCTV footage from the area, the investigative team successfully apprehended a suspect identified as Aurif Ahmad, son of Shabir Ahmad, hailing from Bakerwal Check, district Anantnag, with a temporary address at Asrara Abad Gulshan Nagar Sidhra. Subsequently, based on the information provided by the suspect, the stolen scooter bearing registration number JK14J-6475 was recovered and seized. The Jammu Police have been commended by the public for their swift and decisive action in resolving the case. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing to ensure justice is served. This successful resolution underscores the dedication and effectiveness of the Jammu Police in combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of the community.
