SKPA commences 3-day course on Juvenile Justice for police officers

UDHAMPUR, Mar 22: The Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) in Udhampur has launched a three-day training course on "Juvenile Justice (Child Care & Protections)" aimed at sensitizing police officers ranging from Sub-Inspectors to Inspectors on the legal provisions pertaining to the protection, care, and rights of children.
A total of eighteen police officers, spanning the rank of Sub-Inspector to Inspector, are participating in the training course, which kicked off today.
The formal inauguration of the course was conducted by Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, SSP, and Deputy Director (Indoor) of SKPA Udhampur. In his inaugural address, Gupta provided insights into the fundamental concepts of the course and elucidated upon the existing legal provisions concerning juvenile justice. Emphasizing the evolving challenges posed by juvenile crimes, Gupta underscored the importance of adopting innovative strategies to tackle this issue effectively.
The coordination of the course is being overseen by Shri Sukhvir Singh, DySP, Assistant Director (Administration), with assistance from ASI Ashok Kumar, a member of the faculty. The course aims to equip participating police officers with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of juvenile justice laws, thereby enhancing their capabilities in handling cases involving children and ensuring their protection and welfare.
Through interactive sessions and practical exercises, the training program intends to empower law enforcement personnel to address the complexities associated with juvenile crimes and to safeguard the rights and well-being of children within the community. Such initiatives reflect the commitment of SKPA Udhampur and the police department to professional development and continuous learning, ensuring that officers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to serve and protect all members of society, especially the vulnerable segments such as children.
