JAMMU, Mar 22: Divisional Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar today attended the opening ceremony of National Aerobic Gymnastics Championship 2023-24 as Chief Guest at Gymnastics Academy, MA Stadium here.
The three day national Championship is being organized by Gymnastics Association of J&K in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under the aegis of Gymnastics Federation of India.
The Divisional Commissioner on the occasion interacted with the participating gymnasts from 20 states and UTs and gave best wishes to them for the championships.
Div Com said that sports has a significant role in our lives as it promotes fraternity, team work, cooperation, coordination and sportsmanship spirit. He added that it is essential for the overall development of the children, who can later choose sports as a career.
The Div Com highlighted taht Sports keeps youngsters away from engaging in harmful activities and excessive screen time. He added that massive number of sports persons are participating in sports activities yearly.
He further remarked that better facilities and unprecedented sports culture has led to emergence of new sports icons from Jammu Kashmir in number of sports disciplines. Ace para archer Sheetal Devi of J&K is an international icon of sportsman spirit and resilience, the Div Com said.
On the occasion, Gymnasts from Manipur, Jammu Kashmir and Maharashtra displayed their amazing aerobic performances before the start of the championships.
Commissioner JMC, Rahul Yadav; Vice Present Gymnastics Federation of India, Kiran Wattal; Chief Sports Officer, JK Sports Council, Officials from Gymnastic Association of J&K, Gymnasts, Players, managers, coaches and parents of participants were also present on the occasion. |
