Youth Parliament on 'Nasha Mukt Bharat' galvanizes youth engagement in GDC Ramban

RAMBAN, Mar 23: In a collaborative effort between Nehru Yuva Kendra Doda, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, and the NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC), Ramban, a District Level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament was organized on the theme "Nasha Mukt Bharat." The event, held on 22-03-2024, witnessed a remarkable turnout of 800 youth from across the district, congregating at GDC Ramban to deliberate on pressing issues and contribute towards a drug-free nation.
The inauguration of the programme was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Principal I/C Prof. Satish Kumar, District Youth Officer Khushal Gupta, NSS PO Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and several faculty members including Prof. Ram Parkash, Prof. Chanakya Sharma, and Dr. Rabinder Kumar, among others.
Commencing with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, the event unfolded with a warm welcome address by District Youth Officer Khushal Gupta, who underscored the significance of such initiatives in fostering youth engagement and societal welfare. An emphasis was laid on registering on the MY Bharat portal, with all participants receiving badges and completing their registrations during the event.
Prof. Ramesh Chander provided insights into the MY Bharat portal and its relevance in the digital age, setting the stage for Dr. Vishal Baloria's enlightening discourse on "New India - New Initiatives," elucidating the strides taken by the nation in recent years. Dr. Aashiq Hussain Malik delivered a thought-provoking lecture on "Sports - India's Soft Corner," highlighting the pivotal role of sports in national development.
The highlight of the event was the Mock Parliament session on "Nasha Mukt Bharat," wherein volunteers from GDC Ramban actively participated, acquainting themselves with parliamentary procedures and advocating for a drug-free society.
The event also witnessed the presence of eminent faculty members including Prof. Neetu Sharma, Dr. Javed Sarvar, Dr. Shivali Gupta, Prof. Ajay Kumar, Dr. Kirpal, Dr. Javed, and Ms. Ronika Devi, alongside National Youth Volunteers Inshfaq Ashraf, Bittu Ram, and Mohd Fayaz.
As a token of appreciation, certificates and mementos were distributed among the participants, marking the successful culmination of the Neighbourhood Youth Parliament, a testament to the collective resolve towards building a healthier, drug-free India.
