Early Times Report
KHOUR, Mar 23: On the occasion of World Water Day, the Government Degree College (GDC) Khour orchestrated a compelling Poster Making Competition centered on the theme "Leveraging Water for Peace." Organized by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) wing in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Sciences, the event garnered fervent participation from students and cadets alike.
Under the auspices of Prof. (Dr.) T.K. Sharma, Principal of GDC Khour, the competition aimed to underscore the significance of preserving water resources and fostering harmony through its sustainable management. Lt. Shivani Sharma, Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences and ANO Boys Wing, supervised the event, ensuring its smooth execution.
Participants showcased their artistic talents and environmental consciousness by illustrating the pivotal role of water as a shared resource transcending political, cultural, and geographical boundaries. Themes encompassed the imperative of safeguarding ecosystems and promoting responsible water consumption practices. The adjudication panel, led by Prof. Anil Kumar, Head of Botany, meticulously evaluated the entries. Vansh Kumar from Semester 2 clinched the coveted first position, while Cadet Jasbir Singh and Cadet Bhanu Partap Singh from Semester 6 secured the second and third positions, respectively.
Expressing his appreciation for the participants' endeavors, Prof. T.K Sharma commended their dedication towards advocating water conservation. He urged students to embrace sustainable practices such as rainwater harvesting and afforestation to mitigate water scarcity and safeguard the environment.
The event served as a poignant reminder of the collective responsibility to preserve Earth's most precious resource, with the youth at GDC Khour leading the charge towards a water-secure future.
