Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 23: An alleged kidnapping and snatching case reported at Nowabad Police Station on March 18, 2024, has been revealed to be a fabricated story concocted by the complainant, Kala Khan, son of Mian Khan, resident of Village Moghla, Tehsil Teryath, District Rajouri.
Kala Khan had lodged a complaint stating that he was forcibly taken by four unknown individuals in a black car near Chand Kour Gurudwara Sahib, Chand Nagar, and robbed of ?5 lakhs, which he claimed to have received from selling goats/sheep in Pulwama.
Responding to the seriousness of the complaint, Case FIR No.44/2024 U/S 364/382/34 IPC was promptly registered at Nowabad Police Station, and investigation commenced. A special police team, led by SHO Nowabad Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by PSI Aziz Tariq and HC Jehangir Khan, was formed under the supervision of Sh. Ashok Kumar Dy.SP Hqrs Jammu and Sh. Shivam Siddharth IPS, SP City North Jammu.
After diligent investigation, the police team became suspicious of the complainant's narrative. Upon thorough questioning, Kala Khan confessed to fabricating the story to evade repayment of debts totaling around 7/8 lakhs to individuals from Budhal, Samote, Moghla, Teryath areas. He had borrowed money to purchase goats/sheep for sale in Kashmir, but incurred losses due to illness and deaths of the livestock.
In light of the false report and misleading the police, proceedings under Section 182 IPC have been initiated against the complainant, and a separate Istgasa has been presented before the Hon'ble Court.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of thorough investigation and the consequences of filing false reports. Nowabad Police Station urges citizens to refrain from fabricating stories and cooperate truthfully with law enforcement to ensure justice and uphold the integrity of the legal system.
