Border police busts illicit liquor racket, arrests bootlegger with 18 bottles

JAMMU, Mar 24: In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor trade, Border Police Post (BPP) Gajansoo in Jammu apprehended a bootlegger and seized 18 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession in the main market area of Gajansoo.
Acting on reliable information received on 24th March 2024, a police team from BPP Gajansoo swiftly responded to reports of illicit liquor being sold in the main market area. The team successfully apprehended Gopal Singh, son of Milap Singh and resident of Chatha Gujran, who was allegedly involved in the illegal sale of liquor. Upon conducting a search, law enforcement officers discovered and confiscated 18 bottles of JK Special Whisky, each containing 180 ml of illicit liquor.
In response to the seizure, Case FIR No. 45/2024 under section 48(f) of the Excise Act was registered at Police Station Kanachak, and the accused individual was promptly arrested. Investigations into the matter are underway as authorities seek to uncover the full extent of the bootlegging operation and bring all perpetrators to justice.
The swift action taken by BPP Gajansoo underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat the illicit liquor trade and maintain law and order in the region. The seizure of such a significant quantity of illicit liquor reflects the persistent efforts of authorities to safeguard public health and safety by curbing the illegal sale and distribution of alcohol.
The successful operation has been praised by local residents, highlighting the community's support for initiatives aimed at eliminating the scourge of illegal alcohol trade.
