Police apprehends drug peddler with heroin-like substance in RS Pura

JAMMU, Mar 24: In a significant development in the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu Police, under Operation Sanjeevani, apprehended a suspected drug peddler and seized a quantity of Heroin-like substance from his possession in R.S Pura.
On 22nd March 2024, a police patrol from the R.S Pura Police Station, conducting routine checks near Talli Morh close to Convent School, intercepted a pedestrian moving from Langriyal towards R.S Pura. Upon noticing the police presence, the individual attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the alert police team. Identified as Nikhil Chib alias Gho, son of Surjeet Singh and resident of Satraiyan Tehsil Suchetgarh District Jammu, the suspect was found in possession of 1.80 grams of a substance resembling Heroin (commonly known as chitta).
A case under FIR No. 54/2024, registered under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act, has been initiated at the R.S Pura Police Station, and investigations are underway to uncover further details regarding the origins and distribution network of the seized substance.
The swift action taken by Jammu Police reflects their unwavering commitment to combat the drug menace plaguing society. The efforts to apprehend drug peddlers and confiscate illicit substances are crucial steps towards ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
