| Assembly approves procedure to elect members for House Committee | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, FEBRUARY 28 – The Minister for Finance, Planning Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today moved six motions for elections to various Committees of the House. The first motion moved by Mr. Rather was, “That the Members of the House do elect in accordance with Rule 344 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, eleven members to serve on the Committee on Public Accounts for the period ending 31st March 2010”. The second motion moved by the Minister was “That the House recommends to the Legislative Council to agree to elect according to the principle of proportional representation through single transferable vote, tow members from Legislative Council to associate with the Committee on Public Accounts of the House for the period ending 31st March 2010 and communicate to this House the names of the Members, so elected”. The third motion moved by the Minister was “That the members of the House do elect in accordance with Rule 346 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, eleven members to serve on the Committee on Estimates for the period ending 31st March 2010”. Rather also moved the fourth motion for acceptance, “That the House recommends to the Legislative Council to agree to elect according to the principle of proportional representation through single transferable vote, two members from Legislative Council to associate with the Committee on Estimates of the House for the period ending 31st March 2010 and communicate to this House the names of the Members, so elected”. Fifth motion, which was moved by the Minister, was, “That the members of the House do elect in accordance with Rule 349 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, eleven members to serve on the Committee on Public Undertakings for the period ending 31st March 2010”; The Minister also moved a motion entitled, “That the House recommends to the Legislative Council to agree to elect according to the principle of proportional representation through single transferable vote, two members from Legislative Council to associate with the Committee on Public Undertakings of the House for the period ending 31st March 2010 and communicate to this House the names of the Members so elected”. Later, the legislators accepted unanimously all the six motions in the House.
